Obituary of Guadalupe A. Martinez

Please share a memory of Guadalupe to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved Guadalupe A. Martinez, age 86, was called to our Heavenly Father on Monday, December 27, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Expectacion and Guadalupe Martinez; his brothers, Doroteo Martinez, Gregorio Martinez, and Espetacion Martinez, and his sisters, Mary Trujillio, Santos Alonzo, Rufugia Rodriguez, and Lorenza Alvarez, and his dogs Lucky, Prince, Mighty, Spotty and Chico

Guadalupe was born on April 23, 1935 in Del Valle, Texas. He worked as a subcontractor in the masonry field for most of his life. A skill that he was extremely talented in. Guadalupe had several passions that were close to his heart and one of them was his love for music. He had a talent for playing the accordion and singing. At the age of 19 years, he began playing with a band called Lupano Martinez y Sus Jilgueros. This passion lasted several decades and led to several recordings. Guadalupe’s second love was baseball. He coached a little league team named the ‘Colts’, for several years. He became a mentor to his players. Whether they had a winning or losing season, he was always proud of them. To further show his appreciation, he would take all of his players each year to watch a Houston Astros game. His third passion was the love of animals. Guadalupe’s life was not complete if he did not have a dog by his side. No matter the size, breed or color, his love for dogs was endless. This love for animals was passed on to his loved ones as well. His most precious passion was for his family and friends. He loved being surrounded by those he cared for. Guadalupe's heart was filled with joy, love, family and friendship. He loved and was very much loved in return by those who were fortunate to know him and to be a part of his life. Our world is a little less brighter without him but we know that he will never be far in our hearts.

Guadalupe is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rachel Martinez; his children, Abby Rodriguez (Joe), Lola Salazar (Darrel), Nicole Ervin (Marcus), Jessica Martinez-Hall (Christopher), and Mark Martinez; his grandchildren, Shameakia, Vanessa (Dwight), Marcus (Ashton), Antonio, Mark Jr., Nicholas, Aubree, Faith, Jessica Renee (Joaquin), Octavia, Ashley, China, Sky, Lorenzo (Angelica), Aurellio (Leti) Juan Carlos, Jose Jr. ; his great grandchildren, Alvira, Judy, Selena, Jonathan, Ke'Nae, Kee'Mijha, Jah'Keem, Michael, Josiah, Jeremiah, Jaliyiah, Jovanta, Jr., Alexavier, Andrew, Laureen, Giovanni, Juan Carlos Jr., Lucia, Amelia, Cassidy, Alexis, Alex, Nathaniel, Serenity and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
