Obituary of Gilberto C. Mancias, Jr.
Gilberto C. Mancias Jr., a life-long resident of Austin, Texas passed away on November 10, 2021 at the age of 77.
Born in Cotulla, Texas, he was the son of Gilberto and Juanita Cruz Mancias. He retired from The University of Texas at Austin and worked as a professional painter for 18 years as part of the facilities and maintenance service center at the university.
He was a member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Austin, Texas. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gambling was a hobby that he enjoyed with his wife, children, and grandchildren. His favorite casino game was craps. He frequented the local bingo halls in Austin, Texas passing time together with his wife and friends. The flea market was a weekend hobby for fun and profit over the years. He and Martina enjoyed setting up booths at local markets finding treasures, antiques and reselling. Over the years they had many friendships established at these markets.
Gilberto is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Martina Gomez (Mancias); his children: daughter, Dora Linda Mancias and her wife, Kiska Shull; son, Jerry Mancias and his ex-wife Leticia Carrillo; son, Jose (Joe) Alberto Mancias and wife Yvette Rodriguez; son, Raynaldo (Ray)Mancias and wife Michelle Willard; son Gilbert Mancias III. Grandchildren: Valerie Mancias, Vivian Mancias, Melinda Mendieta and her husband Ignacio Mendieta, Marlene Mancias Alba, Jose Alberto Mancias, Jr. and his wife Danielle Kingston, Tyler Mancias and Makayla Mancias. Great grandchildren: Elizabeth, Karoline, Madison, and Lilith Mendieta, Jose , Anthony, Allyson, Logan, Cash and Natalie Mancias, Sophia, Admarie, Joe Angelo and Mariska Alba. His brothers: Jesus Mancias and Victor Mancias.
He was predeceased by his parents: Gilberto Mancias and Juanita Cruz Mancias, his sister, Petra Pineda, brothers, Manuel Mancias, Pedro Mancias, Juan Luis Mancias and Francisco Pineda who was always considered a brother to him than a brother in law; .

Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, corner of E. 2nd St. and Robert T. Martinez St., Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, Texas.
