Obituary of Merced R. Zuniga

Our beloved Merced R. Zuniga, age 92, was called to our Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 6, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Heliodoro G. Zuniga; her son, Heliodoro R. Zuniga, Jr.; daughter, Dora Zuniga; grandchildren, Sandra Ann Rodriguez and Mary Margaret Rodriguez; great grandson, John Paul Rodriguez; her parents, Juan and Refugia Rodriguez, and her siblings, Tacha Fabian, Quina Cabello, Juana Rodriguez, Johnny Rodriguez, Doroteo Rodriguez, Margarito Rodriguez, Jorge Rodriguez, and Felicita Rodriguez.

Mrs. Zuniga is survived by her loving children, Candido Rodriguez, Esteban R. Zuniga, Beatrice Zuniga, and Rachel Zuniga-Campos; her grandchildren, Michael Rodriguez, Candido Rodriguez, Jr., Matthew Hinojosa, Alyssa Hinojosa, Stephen H. Zuniga, Christopher Ray Zuniga-Chairez, Esteban Zuniga-Chairez, Crystal Marie Zuniga-Chairez, Sandra Ann Z. Campos, Victoria Irene Z. Campos, Jessica Z. Campos, Amanda Z. Campos, and David Z. Campos III; her siblings, Tomas Rodriguez and Nica Torres; 20 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, 4 great great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Honored pallbearers will be Chris Zuniga-Chairez, Steve "Gordo" Zuniga-Chairez, Crystal Zuniga-Chairez, David Z. Campos III, Michael Rodriguez, Stephen H. Zuniga, Rudy Vasquez, and Michael Higgins. Honorary Pallbearer will be Giovanni Benitez.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021 at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Ave., Austin, Texas.  Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, Texas.

Due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

We politely request the continued use of face coverings in an effort to

help protect our community.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services. 

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
