Obituary of Juan Angel Mora Jr.

Our beloved Juan Angel Mora Jr., was called home by Our Heavenly Father, on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at the phenomenal age of 24.

Angel was born a true fighter. He had the strength of a great warrior, and overcame every challenge with grace, dignity, love, and an extreme will to live. He exceeded all expectations set by countless medical professionals. And did so with such grace, exuded joy and was the light for so many.

Angel’s reach has been further than anyone could ever quantify. He has influenced an entire generation of family and friends. His life story has been instrumental in educating hundreds of developmental professionals and families at both the local and national levels. His life work continued as he taught medical professionals new ways of thinking and approaches. His name shall be with them for the entirety of their careers. Angel also took great pride in participating in fundraisers, fund-runs, and community services to benefit others. He was the purest form of a selfless giver.

To know him was to be touched by God. Angel was amazing, courageous, loving and absolutely strong-willed. He was always the joy of his family’s lives, the center of their universe and the teacher of many lessons. He lived large, loved hard and fought even harder. And we are all simply better people for having known him. He loved his family. Family gave him life. He adored his siblings and always cheered for them as their biggest fan. He absolutely loved his niece and his role as Tio Angel. And, he loved his parents so incredibly much. As one close family friend lovingly said, “Angel grew them up”.

Angel reminds us that God’s work, through him, is not done. Angel is still working. He shall serve as a guardian angel to other children who need his support. He will by their sides at their hardest moments, comfort them, encourage them, and of course make them giggle and giggle when no one else is around. Angel is with us, with every pinwheel that spins, every flag that waves, ocean that crashes, breeze that’s felt, and yellow butterfly that dances. He is with us. And will always be with us as long as our hearts are open and listen for his little reminders.

For now, it is beach time for Angel, somewhere along the coast, at the shore, in the breeze, with music playing and gone fishin’. “Heaven is the beach” - Adrienne Barnett.

Angel is preceded in death by his grandfather Ernesto C. Mora, and great grandparents, Ralph and Mary Limon Vidouria.

Angel is survived by his loving parents, Juan Angel Sr. and Tasha Mora; sister Christina Mora and fiancé Willis Barnett; younger brother Matthew Mora and fiancée Andrea Mora; youngest brother Joshua Mora; beloved niece Adrienne Barnett; maternal grandmother Diane Martinez; paternal grandmother Oralia Mora; and a host of aunts and uncles, cousins and friends who have become family.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 South 1st St., Austin, Texas. Scripture Services and a Celebration of Life will also be held at Mission Funeral home, on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

A Casting Ceremony is planned for a later date in Port Aransas, Texas.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are brothers Matthew Mora and Joshua Mora, brother-in-law Willis Barnett, cousins Anthony Posada and Sean Martinez, and God-brother Mario Alcozer.

The family would like to extend their most sincerest gratitude to Angel’s  amazing medical army, nurses and hospice team; to his cousins who kept him company; Tia’s who always helped; and loving grandmothers who never left his side.

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services.

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
