Obituary of Guadalupe Portillo, Sr.

Our beloved Guadalupe Portillo, Sr., age 86, was called to our Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 25, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dolores Cardenas Portillo; his children, Eloy Portillo and Patricia Limon; his parents, Gonzalo Portillo, Sr. and Maria Villa Portillo; his siblings, Damiana Portillo, Paula Portillo, Toby Portillo, Dorothy Portillo, and Gonzalo Portillo, Jr., and his in-laws, Ray Botello, Robert Guerra and Jesse Mendoza.

Guadalupe is survived by his children, Guadalupe Portillo, Jr. (Carmen) and Maria S. Portillo; in-laws, Karen Portillo and Paul Limon; grandchildren, Phillip Portillo, Aimee McNair (Josh), Nicole Ramirez (Joel), Nina Cardenas, Eloy Jose Portillo, Heather David (Brad), Joshua Portillo, Edward Portillo (Petra), Stephanie Limon (Paul Alvarado), and Mary Jane Limon; 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Portillo, Edward Portillo, Joshua Portillo, Bobby Garcia, Louis Limon, Jr., Robert Botello, Robert Guerra and Chris Portillo.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Mission Funeral Home - East Side, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez St., Austin, Texas.

A Scripture Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 also at Mission Funeral Home - East Side.  Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, Texas.

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services. 

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
