Obituary of Mario Ortiz

Our beloved Mario Ortiz, age 48, was called to our Heavenly Father on Monday, August 30, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Ortiz, Sr.

Mario is survived by his mother, Guadalupe Leiba; his children, Annette Castelan, Glenissa Ortiz, Nancy Ortiz, and Mario Ortiz, Jr.; several grandchildlren; his girlfriend, Priscilla Urive; his siblings, Estella Rocha (Jose), Frank Ortiz, Jr. (Mary), Diane Castillo (Edward Moreno), Julia Banda (Frank), Nancy Ortiz, Santos Ortiz (Jose Castillo), Lupita Ortiz (Juan Ramos), Cecilia Yanez (Rickey), Lydia Arbizu (Irineo Cabrera), and Porfiria Salazar; and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Vincent Rocha, Hilario Castillo III, Adam Banda, Sr., Damon Fagins, Alex Castelan, Jr., Joe Garcia III, and Cruz Castillo. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rickey Yanez, Jr. and George Pettus.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning a 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Mission Funeral Home - East Side, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez St., Austin, Texas.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 9th St., Austin, Texas.  Burial will follow at Elgin Latin Cemetery, Elgin, Texas.

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services. 

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
