Obituary of Joe Samaniego, Jr.

Please share a memory of Joe to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved Joe Samaniego, Jr. age 47, was called to our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Samaniego, Sr., grandparents, Natividad and Emma Samaniego, grandfather, Tony Montez, great-grandparents, Lonnie and Elena Cedillo and great-grandmother, Trinidad Montez.

Joe is survived by his wife, Brandi Michelle Ybarra Samaniego; his children, Natalia Samaniego, Tatiana Samaniego, Julissa Samaniego; his mother Elba Gonzales (Albert); grandmother, Alisia Montez; step-mother, Juana Samaniego; siblings, Angel Roblero (William), Paul Samaniego, Antonio Samaniego (Cynthia), and Michelle Samaniego.  In addition, Joe leaves numerous treasured nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends to cherish his memory.

To know Joe was to love Joe. His personality was like no other, he said what he felt and was extremely loyal to his family and friends. Joe’s zest for life took him on many adventures and allowed him to meet a variety of new people, who he would later call friends because Joe never met a stranger, literally!

Joe was born January 29, 1974 in Austin, Texas. He had a lifelong career working with mechanical systems in the private sector. For the last 5 years, Joe served as an Engineering Associate C for the City of Austin. In 2017, he became one of the first mechanical reviewers for the newly created Expedited Building Plan Review Program.  Joe was passionate about how he approached his work because he deeply cared about the life and safety responsibility on his shoulders. Joe’s Expedited teammates take comfort in remembering his mischievous laugh, his love of motorcycles, the friend that would show up to help you fix an A/C unit in the summer heat and the guy that went to the mat for you no matter what.

Joe loved riding his Harley Davidson, football (Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns), whiskey, playing dominoes, Michelob Ultra, travelling and listening to music.

Joe's family kindly requests that all who enter and remain at his services please wear a mask at all times, sanitize their hands frequently, and refrain from hugging, kissing, or shaking hands without first sanitizing their hands.

Honored pallbearers will be Alex Amezcua, Luke Cedillo, T.J. Dubcak , David Martinez, Elias Mendoza, Aaron Moreno, P.J. Samaniego, and Daniel Torres
