Our beloved Mary M. Vela, age 72, of Austin, was called by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 16, 2003. Survivors include: Husband- Edward Vela, Brothers- Felix Martinez & George Martinez of San Antonio, Sons and Daughters- Maria Theresa & Mike Sanchez of San Antonio, Clara and Rudy Gonzales of Austin, Tony and Ida Vela of Austin, Helen and John Castillo of Austin, Augustine and Helen Vela of Austin, Davis Vela of Austin, Beatrice Verastegui, and Maria Isabelle & Joe Avila of Austin. Niece & nephews- Juanita Mireles & Joe Campos of San Antonio, Arnulfo & Carmen Rodriguez of Abilene. 21 Grandchildren & 28 Great Grandchildren
Recitation of rosary will be held Monday 7pm, at the Mission Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday/ 10am at St. Julia?s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Edward Gonzales Sr., Antonio Vela Jr, Jon Martin Castillo, Michael Vela, Davis Vela Jr., Ray Verastegui Jr.
Honorary pallbearers are Terry Sanchez & Joe A. Avila III.
