Obituary of Melissa Hernandez Cortez

Nuestra amada Melissa Hernandez Cortez, de 22 años de edad, residente de Austin, nació a la Vida Eterna el martes, 24 de agosto, 2021. 

Melissa deja trás sus padres, Zeferino Hernandez Perez y Jezabet Cortez; su madrastra, Guadalupe Milagros Villanueva Salazar; sus hermanos, Brenda Guadalupe Hernandez Cortez, Christian Emir Hernandez Villanueva, Keven Alexander Hernandez Villanueva, Emily Johanna Hernandez Villanueva; sus tios, Loreli Hernandez Perez, Mayra Elizabeth Lopez Perez, Oscar Lopez Perez, Alfonso Lopez Perez, Cesar Lopez Perez, Erika Lopez Perez; su abuelo, Galdino Lopez Rios; muchos primos, otros parientes, y amigos.

El velorio se realizará el jueves, 2 de septiembre, 2021, de 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., con la Recitación del Santo Rosario empesando a las 7:00 p.m., en Mission Funeral Home - East Side, 1615 East Cesar Chavez Street, Austin, Texas.

La Santa Misa de Requiém se realizará la siguiente mañana, viernes, 3 de septiembre, 2021, a partir de las 10:00 a.m., en St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 12041 Bittern Hollow, Austin, Texas.

El entierro seguirá en Assumption Cemetery.

Debido a las restricciones de Coronavirus / COVID-19 de la ciudad de Austin,
los niveles de capacidad están restringidos en funerarias, iglesias y cementerios.
Cada persona que ingrese a la funeraria, la iglesia y el cementerio deberá usar una máscara.
y practicar el distanciamiento social de 6 pies o más. Si está enfermo o le preocupa el virus,
se recomienda que no asista a los servicios.
La familia está muy agradecida con todos por su comprensión, amor y apoyo.

Our beloved Melissa Hernandez Cortez, age 22 years, resident of Austin, was born into Eternal Life on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

Melissa leaves behind her parents, Zeferino Hernandez Perez and Jezabet Cortez; her step-mother, Guadalupe Milagros Villanueva Salazar; her siblings, Brenda Guadalupe Hernandez Cortez, Christian Emir Hernandez Villanueva, Keven Alexander Hernandez Villanueva, Emily Johanna Hernandez Villanueva; her uncles and aunts, Loreli Hernandez Perez, Mayra Elizabeth Lopez Perez, Oscar Lopez Perez, Alfonso Lopez Perez, Cesar Lopez Perez, Erika Lopez Perez; her grandfather, Galdino Lopez Rios; many cousins, other family members, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 5:00 p.m - 9:00 p.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home - East Side, 1615 East Cesar Chavez Street, Austin, Texas.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following morning, Friday, September 3, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 12041 Bittern Hollow, Austin, Texas.

Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services.

during this very difficult time.
