Obituary of David Flores Cortez

Our beloved David Flores Cortez was called home to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 8, 2021.

He is proceeded by his loving wife Estella Evans Cortez of 51 years; his parents Ancieto Cortez and Maria de la Luz Cortez; granddaughter Bianca Guadalupe Alejo, siblings; Lupe Rodriguez, Pauline Cruz, Alex Cortez, Robert Flores, Rudy Flores Sr., and his brother in law Robert Villanueva.

David is survived by two siblings, his sister Christine Villanueva and brother, Fernando Cortez.

David is survived by his 6 children, David Cortez Jr. and wife Janie, Reynaldo Cortez Sr., and wife Michelle, Ronald Cortez Sr. and wife Martha, Jacqueline Cortez Hipolito and husband Michael, Mary Cortez Vega and husband Julian, Jennifer Cortez Alejo and husband Fabia, and randchildren; Paul E. Nanez, Stephanie Lopez, Reynaldo Cortez Jr., Mark Pena, Juan Carlos Cortez, Ronald Cortez Jr., Patricia Valencia, Ester Libra, Santana Alejo, David Cortez Jr.,  Lucero Cortez, Anjolina Alejo, and several greatgrandchildren; as well as numerous loving family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 05:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m., Monday, August 16, 2021, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 07:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 South First St. Austin, TX 78745. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services. 

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
