Obituary of David Martinez Montoya
Our beloved David Martinez Montoya, age 81, was called to our Heavenly Father on Monday, August 2, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tomas and Margaret Montoya; his grandmother, Beatriz Montoya, who raised him after the death of his mother. David proudly serviced our country as a member of the United States Army National Guard.
David took great pride in his family and was a faithful follower of Christ. He was an accomplished song writer, guitarist, and master carpenter. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Virginia Montoya Casarez (Joe), Jo Ann Montoya, Diane Montoya, David Tomas Montoya, and Grace Montoya Marines (Jerel); his 19 grandchildren, Joseph John Ruiz, Jr., Angel Marie Ruiz, Dakotah Casarez, Joe Casarez, Joel Ybarra, Jr., Joe Anthony Ybarra (Krystal Ybarra), Jessica Marie Ybarra, John Matthew Ybarra, Stephanie M. Nuncio, Jamie Y. Torres, Michael T. Torres, Jr., Robert D. Torres, Epimenio Torrez, Jr., Thomas Andrew Torrez, Lewis Marines, and Savannah Marines; great grandchildren, Ashley Murillo, Angel Escobar, Alfred Escobar, Jr., Joshua Ruiz, Joe Anthony Ybarra, Jr., Alyssa Alejandra Ybarra, Gabriella Anjela Ybarra, Michael Julian Ybarra, Izabella Sophia Ybarra, Dominic Rios,Nathaniel Sattler, Jaden Sattler, John Sattler, Makayla Padilla, Ricky Castelan, Michael Nathan Torres, Noe Torres, Arielle Juliette Torrez, Tristan Salinas, and Jacob Marines ; great great grandchild, Ayden Alexander Yi; his sister, Litcha Montoya, and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Joseph John Ruiz, Jr., Dakotah Casarez, Joel Ybarra, Jr., Joe Anthony Ybarra, John Matthew Ybarra, Michael T. Torres, Jr., Robert D. Torres, Epimenio Torrez, Jr., and Thomas Andrew Torrez.
Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Dr., Austin, Texas.
