Robert Cisneros, devoted husband and father passed away on Monday June 28, 2021, at the age 67.

 

Robert was born in Wharton, Texas to Ezequiel and Mary Cisneros.  He lived in Wharton until he attended the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Services in 1974 in Houston.  He moved to Austin in 1976 and began working with the Villasenor Family at Mission Funeral Home.  Robert received his Funeral Director license in December 1976 and Embalmer license in 1977.  Throughout the years, Robert worked with several funeral homes in Austin as an embalmer. In 1998 he formed Superior Crematorium Service.  Most recently Robert was employed by Mission Funeral Home as a funeral director and license cremator.  He was known as the “Tent Man” and “BBQ-Man” to many who knew him. For years Robert faithfully served the east Austin community.

 

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Theresa “Teri”; his daughters Maricela, Mary Christina “Christy” (Jason), his son Ezequiel “Zeke”; two sisters Josie Longoria (Eddie Garza) of Sugar Land, Patsy Ovalle of Wharton; two brothers Ezequiel “Zeke” Cisneros of Wharton, and Davis Cisneros (Sofia) of Odessa.

 

Robert was preceded in death by parents Ezequiel and Mary Cisneros Sr; sister Mary Elizabeth Cisneros; brother Peter Cisneros; and father and mother-in-law, Paul and Teresa Saldaña.

 

Visitation will be Thursday, July 1, at 5:00 p.m., with rosary service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1206 East 9th Street, Austin, Texas.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 2 at 2:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 506 S East Ave., Wharton, Texas, 77488.  Burial to immediately follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, 3511 E. Alabama Rd., Wharton, Texas 77488.

 

Pallbearers:  Paul Saldaña, Bruno Garcia II, Jonathan Rocha, Mariano Ovalle, Kenny Longoria, and Robert Segura. Honorary pallbearers:  Manuel “Buddy” Saldana, Bruno C. Garcia, Mario Rocha, and Daniel Figueroa.

 

He leaves us rich with memories.
