Obituary of John J. Touchstone

Our Beloved John Touchstone, age 85, of Austin, Texas, was called by our Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 13, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Alice Jean Touchstone; his daughter, Cheri Vanzant, and his parents, Carl Houston Fitzgerald, Sr. and Myrtle Bernice Fitzgerald.

John is survived by his sons, John V. Touchstone, and Mitchell Touchstone (Kyla); siblings, Carleen Taylor of Denver, Colorado, Barbara Lee Manis of Auburn, California, and Carl Houston Fitzgerald, Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana; grandchildren, Allison Vanzant, Dylan Touchstone, Marley Touchstone, Zachary Touchston, Maya Touchstone, and Whitaker Touchstone; great grandchildren, Brodie, Gannon, Grayson, Charlotte, Lily, and June, and many other loving family members and friends.

Honored Pallbearers will be Dylan Touchstone, Marley Touchstone, Zachary Touchstone, Whitaker Touchstone, Brodie Sparks, and Matt Knight.

In lieu of flowers the family of Mr. Touchstone requests donations be made in honor of John J. Touchstone to Humane Society of Austin, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Mission Funeral Home – South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas. Chapel Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 also at Mission Funeral Home – South Side. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, Texas.

Due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

We politely request the continued use of face coverings in an effort to

help protect our community.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services. 

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
