Our beloved Maurice Benites, age 73, was called home to our Heavenly Father, on Sunday, April 4, 2021.

Maurice was a kind and loving man, who was adored in the community. He was well known for his self-made successful business City Services Sewing Machines. He enjoyed classic cars and spending time with his family. He was part of the Longhorn Corvette club and won many awards for his work on custom Cars. He has a beautiful marriage to Mrs. Cruz, who couldn’t have asked for a better husband and father.

He was preceded by his parents, Felix and Louise Garcia Benites; son, John Oliver; and by his brother-in-law, Abel Mejia.

Maurice is survived by his loving wife, of over 30 years, Cruz Benites; children, Tommy Oliver and his wife Arlet, Yvonne Flores, Moses Gonzales, and Mary Fabian; grandchildren, Javier, Alexus, Damien, Daniel, Rae, John, Brianna, Brendon, Adian, Moses III, Sierra, Johnathan, Louise, Crystal, and Carlos; siblings, Alfredo Benites and his wife Marie, Alex Benites and his wife Isabelle, Linda Cruz and her husband Paul, and Alice Mejia; 6 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 11, 2021, at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 South First St. Austin, TX 78745. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 12, 2021, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1206 E 9th St, Austin, TX 78702. Interment will follow at Cook Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.

Paulbearers include: Michael Benites (Honorary), Gilbert Morales, Daniel Garza, Albert Mejia, Javier Lopez, Brendon Anderson, Louise Gonzales, and Carlos Fabian.

Following the services a family meal will be held at Mom and Dad's favorite place to eat after church; Darios Mexican food, in south Austin. All families will needn to pay for their own meals if attending. Thank you. 

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services.

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
