Obituary of Lino G. Martinez Sr.
Our beloved Lino G. Martinez, Sr., age 87, was called home to our Heavenly Father, on Sunday, March 7, 2021.
Lino G. Martinez, Sr. was born in Nelsonville, Texas, on September 23, 1933, in the midst of the Great Depression. Born to Concepcion and Felipe, he was one of nine children. Marrying the love of his life after six weeks, they were married for 60 years, and had 5 children. Lino loved ping pong, and aquired several trophies from that. He also loved playing Pac Man, planting his flowers, listening to his favorite music, linguistics, telling his life stories to his family members, and his daily walks on the Austin Hike and Bike Trail. Lino was employed by the City of Austin and the Internal Revenue Service, where he retired after 27 years.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, of 60 years, Raquel Galvez Martinez; parents, Joe and Concepcion Gutierrez Martinez; daughters, Mary Irene Galvez Martinez, and Rachel Galvez Martinez; and by his siblings, Maria, Inez, Goya, Sabina, Pedro and Sebastian.
Lino is survived by his sons, Lino Galvez Martinez, Jr. (Dee Sanchez), Robert “Bobby” Daniel Galvez Martinez (Lenora Campos Martinez), and Dr. Jesse Galvez Martinez (Laura Lynn Baldwin); grandchildren, Lisa Marie Martinez Nasir (Ala’aldin), Lino Saucedo Martinez, III (Anny), Daniel Anthony Campos Martinez (Erica), Robert “Bobby” Gabriel Campos Martinez, Jordan Lucas Martinez, Miranda Kelly Martinez, Sabrina Marie Martinez, Samantha Rose Martinez, and Spencer Luis Martinez; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2021, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 South First St. Austin, TX 78745. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2208 E 2nd St, Austin, TX 78702. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Due to the Coronavirus / COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,
capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.
Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

it is recommended that you not attend services.
