Obituary of Gilbert E. Davila
Our beloved Gilbert E. Davila, age 68, was called home to our Heavenly Father, on Sunday, February 28, 2021.
He was a proud Austinite who worked as a Hairdresser for 20 plus years. He also had a passion for playing Tejano music. His passion for music started at a young age. Gilbert played with many local bands throughout Austin and surrounding areas. He formed his own band "Gilbert y Justicia". We were blessed with his legacy of his music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Davila Sr. and Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez; son, Eddie Sanchez; daughter, Laura Ann Davilla; grandsons, Neno Sanchez, and Ivan Escobedo; and by his brothers Marshall Jr. and Mike Davila.
Gilbert is survived by his loving wife, of 24 years, Pauline Davila; his children, Gilbert Torres (Genie), Richard Davila (Cynthia), Marsha Escobedo (Roger), Gil Davila (Lori), Burt Davila, Kristen Martinez (Mark), Chachi Garcia (Gerson), Mayra Garcia (Mike), Sarah Garcia, Steven Gonzalez (Roni); 61 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; siblings, Maggie Barrera, Louisa Camacho, Raymunda Anderson, Rose Marie Casas (Raymond), Susan Melendez, Irene Lafuente (Alfred), Sylvia Ulloa (George), Elizabeth Torres (Babe), Marshall Davilla Jr. (Delia), Dorothy Barrera, and Micaela Salazar (Rick), Diana Figueroa (Lincoln), and Lisa Matel; as well as numerous loving family members and friends.

Vitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2021, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 South First St. Austin, TX 78745. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 11, 2021, also Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Due to the Coronavirus / COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,
capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.
Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask
and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more. If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,
it is recommended that you not attend services.
