Obituary of Jessica Lynn Gorgo
Our beloved Jessica Lynn Gorgo, age 56, after a hard fought battle against cirrhosis was called to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 28, 2021 in Springfield, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Tomie Loera; treasured granddaughter, Anastasia Brown; grandparents from both the Coronado and Loera side; her best friend, Julie Loft; her chemo buddy, Marianne, and her mother-in-law, Dolores Gorgo.
Our mother was the light of any life she touched. She lived faithful to her God and witnessed whenever she had the chance. Jessica was a friend to anyone who needed a friend and rock to many, even in her darkest of times. She never let her illness bitter her and loved all her family unconditionally. She sang with all her heart and loved karaoke. She worked hard even when exhausted to provide for her children and fought her battles head on, always booming with love. Jessica was an enthusiast of the 80s and loved to dance. There will never be another like her.
Jessica is survived by her husband of 15 plus years, Michael Brian Gorgo; her children, Michael Joseph Dickinson (Jessica Reddin), Emily Lynn Dougherty (Benjamin Dougherty); step-children, Kayalani Macias (Frank Macias), Kellee Gorgo (Marcus Harris), Steven Gorgo (Emily Gorgo), and Rachel Gorgo; treasured grandchildren, Anna Lynn Dickinson, Maddison Tomie Dougherty, Dennis Carter Dougherty, Alex Gorgo, Maceon Macias, Gabi Macias, Mia Gorgo, Marlee Harris, Violet Gorgo, and Oliver Gorgo; her siblings, Joann Dickson and Eric Joseph Loera (Amanda Beth Cruz); sister-in-law, Lisa Russell-Tutty (Thomas Russell); nieces and nephews, Ariel Botello, Rhiannon Ashley Dickson, and Brittany Ann Dickson, Ian Dresden Loera, Savannah Nicole Loera, Angela Jane Loera, Samantha Dickinson, Lauren Donaldson, and Kendall Russell-Tutty; her special friends, Crystal and Sam Doverspike, who held her hand until her last breath; Hilda Garza Martinez who sand to her as she rested, Karen Dougherty, mother-in-law to Emily Dougherty, who check on her often and provided encouragement and companionship, and Ransom Dye for his generosity through her fight, and numerous other loving family and friends.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to all of the staff of Floor 4C at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, for their dedication and care in ensuring our mother was comfortable.
In lieu of flowers: donations to liverfoundation.org or colorectal cancer foundations which mom advocated strongly for. Please, help her legacy continue to support those battling cancer.
The family has created a gofundme account to help cover the expense of funeral, burial and her return to her home of Austin, Texas. In advance the family is grateful for all of the love and support they have received from family, friends, and the community as they face this devastating loss.
