Obituary of Guadalupe Cortez Allison
On Monday, February 15th, 2021, our beloved Guadalupe C. Allison, loving daughter and mother, was called to our Heavenly Father at the age of 87.
Lupe was born on December 16th, 1933 in Austin Texas, to Maria and Graciano Cortez; she was the baby of six siblings. At the age of nineteen, she married Thelbert H. Allison Jr. In January of 1959, she had a daughter named Teresa R. Allison, and in December 1959, she had a son named Thelbert H. Allison III. She retired from Butter Krust Bakery in East Austin.
Lupe devoted her life to taking care of her kids, and as her parents got older, she spent every day caring for them. She also helped care for her grandchildren. There are so many beautiful memories of Lupe; many of her joking around, making her grandchildren laugh.
Lupe’s oldest granddaughter Renee called her, “Mom.” A mom is a selfless, loving human being who sacrifices many of her wants and needs for the wants and needs of her children. A mom is exactly what Lupe was to Renee. Renee is flooded with memories and love that she and her kids received throughout the years of living with Lupe.
Lupe’s granddaughter, Annallysia will never forget the love she felt from her when visiting; she felt like a princess inside the house, eating snacks, while her brothers were outside doing chores. One time, as she was watching her favorite cartoon show, “CatDog,” (the cat and dogs’ torsos are connected), Lupe asked her, “How do they use the restroom?” Together they laughed, and as a kid, Anna really wondered, “How do they use the restroom!?”
Lupe’s granddaughter, Samantha will cherish the times where she would brush Lupe’s beautiful long hair. Samantha can still hear her voice and will always remember her grandmother Lupe being the only person to call her, “-tha.” Lupe is remembered as protecting and loving her grandchildren as her own.
Lupe is proceeded in death by her Father Graciano, Mother Maria, her two children, Thelbert Henry Allison III and Teresa Renee Allison Martinez, her sister Mary Tijerina, her brothers Andrew, John, Felix, and Pete Cortez, and her grandson Rudy Martinez Jr.
Lupe is survived by her daughter-in-law Diane R. Allison, grandchildren Renee, Angela, Michelle, and Desiree Martinez, Tanya, Henry, Andrew, Annallysia, Felix, and Mariah Allison. She has twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family members of Guadalupe C. Allison would like to give a special thanks to Diane Allison. As she is grieving over the recent loss of her husband, Thelbert, she managed to take great care of Lupe, putting Lupe’s needs before her own. The family would also like to thank Hospice Austin staff for their hospitality and care. Hospice Austin provided all the essentials needed to make caring for Lupe easier; and most importantly, helped make her last days as comfortable as possible.
The pallbearers are her grandsons Henry, Andrew, and Felix Allison, Jonathan Torres, Matthew and Christian Luna, and Tito Zamora.
