Obituary of Isabel G. Rivera
Isabel Guerra Rivera, age 56, embraced in the arms of her family rose to heaven with the Lord on January 8, 2021. A native Southside Austinite, born September 3, 1964, Isabel was an ‘04’ girl, raised in the 78704 zip code. Even at a young age Isabel loved to enjoy life and made a lifetime of friends at the same time, from Zilker Elem., O’Henry Jr. High and S.F. Austin High School, Class of ’83 graduate.
Isabel had a heart full of love, and showed it as owner and operator of Jewels & Gems Daycare for 27 years. However, she would say her greatest accomplishment was her family, with Ray her husband of 34 years she enjoyed nothing more than being a wife and mother. Isabel adored her two sons, Julian (World) and Adrian (Prince). Her boys will tell you that she taught them to enjoy the little things in life, like music, going to concerts, food...any kind (especially lobster), shopping, gardening or even just going to the movies. But, one her most favorite passions was traveling, going to the beach, the East coast, the West coast, it didn’t matter which beach, she just liked to walk, collect seashells and take in God’s beautiful creations. And, we can’t forget Christmas, it was her most favorite holiday, her house was always decorated and she took every chance possible to revel in the snow and the mountains of Colorado. Isabel just loved exploring the world with her family and friends…that’s what she was all about, making memories. If she wasn’t working or traveling she was probably watching football or her novelas, or making some spicy dish in the kitchen. Her pride and joy though would be “Redd”, her cat and confidant of 10 years. So, if you knew Isabel well or barely at all, she always left you thinking. Whether it was about how absolutely beautiful, ridiculously funny she was, or just down right inappropriate at times, she was going to say what was on her mind, do what she wanted and she definitely left her mark on you. She will continue to live with us through memories, stories and the laughs she forced us all to endure whether we were in the mood for it or not.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Crecencio, Anita V. Guerra, her brother Rudy Guerra and her sister Anita Phillips. She is survived by her loving husband, Ray Rivera; sons, Julian and Adrian; Siblings: Eva Cisneros (Regino); Christina Lopez (Mike); Hope Martinez (Robert); Ernest and Richardo Guerra and Dominga Guerra (sister-in-law). She also leaves behind to grieve, several close nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; and friends. A devoted Catholic, Isabel will be forever remembered and loved by her family and friends, all of your prayers and wishes are greatly appreciated.
“A beautiful life that came to an end, she died as she lived, everyone's friend. In our hearts a memory will always be kept, of one we loved, and will never forget.”
