Obituary of Mary G. Torrez

Our beloved Mary G. Torrez, age 91, resident of Austin, Texas, was called to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 3, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Ernest P. Torrez; her parents, Socorro Guebara and Marina Ramos; her siblings, Ynosencia G. Herrera and Socorro Guebara; her brothers-in-law, Albert and Richard; her sisters-in-law, Louise, Lucia and Beatrice; her daughter-in-law, Mary Alice; one grandchild, and one great-grandchild. 

Mary is survived by her children, Mary Ann Gomez (Rosendo), Helen Alonzo (Edward), Raul Rudy Torrez, Lea Elizabeth Lopez (Albert), and Epimenio Torrez Sr. (Patricia); her siblings, Dolores Guebara, Cruz Guebara, Santana Guebara, and Mannela Garza; 26 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 7th, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM, at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 S. 1st Street, Austin Texas 78745.

Funeral Mass will take place the following morning, Friday, January 8th, 2021 at 11:00 AM, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1206 E. 9th Street, Austin Texas 78702.

Interment to follow at Santa Maria Cemetery in Pflugerville Texas. 

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services. 

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
