Obituary of Patricia Perez
Patricia Anne Tucker Perez of Austin, Texas passed away Wednesday December 2, 2020.
Her friends knew her as “Pat” and her grandchildren knew her as “Baw Baw”, a name given to her by one of her grandchildren as they were learning to talk.
Pat was born in Stuart, Florida. As a young girl, one of her most memorable hobbies was barrel racing. Pat graduated from Martin County High School in 1968. She moved to Texas in 1972, with her two eldest children Jennifer and Mark. She married John Perez and they shared 3 children: Leon, Hector, and Adrianne.
Pat was an honest, hardworking woman. She faced many challenges and hardships throughout her lifetime, despite all of them, she maintained a kind, loving soul. Pat was always willing to offer a listening ear, or a friendly conversation; no matter the person nor walk of life they came from. Though she worked most of her life to make ends meet, she never allowed her financial situation to take away from her strong desire to give back, and help others. She demonstrated what it meant to be a good neighbor every day, and was always well known within the communities in which she lived. As her children grew, she became as active and involved as possible in their school activities, and was never a stranger on campus. Everyone knew whose mother she was, when she came around, and she was very proud of that.
Pat loved her children unconditionally, for they have been and will always remain the apple of her eye. Her grandchildren were her true pride and joy. It was impossible to know Pat without knowing the stories of her children and grandchildren. Her face lit up each time she spoke of any of them, and their activities and accomplishments. She attended countless award ceremonies, plays, athletic games, and events. One could count on finding her there making friends in the front row, never missing an opportunity to say “that’s my grandchild!”
Pat believed so much in the American people, and she always did her part to help others get registered to vote, and find their polling places. She worked the polls every year of the elections. As her children and grandchildren grew, she made sure they knew their worth as an American voter, and the importance of exercising that right no matter what. She had her congressman on speed dial, and never hesitated to notify him of anything she felt needed to be addressed. If she voted for you, she expected you to make good on your promises. That’s who she was.
Pats memory will live on in the hearts of her children and her spirit will linger in the smiles and laughter of her grandchildren forever.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John William Tucker and Barbara Irene Tomlinson.
Patricia is survived by her loving children, Jennifer Vines-Zapata and husband Jesse Zapata, Mark Vines, Leon Perez and wife Rosario Manning-Perez, Eulalio Perez Sr. and wife Lina Lespron-Perez, Adrianne Perez-Medrano and husband Charles Medrano; siblings, John (Carol) Tucker, Linda Lord, Arnold Tucker, Connie Tucker; grandchildren, Crystal Zapata, Jeremy Zapata, Kayla Zapata, Alyssa Solano, Briana Perez, Eulalio Perez Jr., Crispin Perez, Miley Perez, Athena Vines, Cassie Perez, Jo-Isaac Medrano, Aaron Medrano, Arissa Medrano, Margo Perez; great grandchildren, Zaiden, Aubree and Zuri; as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.
