Obituary of Arnulfo Torres Casillas

Our beloved Arnulfo Torres Casillas, age 76, was called to our Heavenly Father on Saturday, October 10, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Maximino Casillas and Maria De Jesus Torres Casillas; and his grandson, Michael Anthony Menchaca-Casillas.

Arnulfo was a long time resident of Austin, and proudly owned Dealer's Choice Upholstery, where he is well known for his beautiful upholstery work, provided for classic cars and other quality vehicles. One of his sons will now carry on his work as the owner of Dealer's Choice Trim. Arnulfo was also a local voice as DJ ‘El Tio Casillas,’ for over 30 years on Spanish radio.  Arnulfo and his wife, Angelica, settled in East Austin, where they would raise their family and become a well known members of the community.  Arnulfo's family and his faith were very important to him. He will forever rest in the arms of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His wonderful sense of humor, his smile, and his loving hugs will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Arnulfo’s legacy will be remembered and kept alive by his devoted wife of 56 years, Angelica S. Casillas; their seven children, Angelica (Kelli) Casillas and her husband, Jorge Prado, Arnulfo (Chacho) S. Casillas, Jr. and his wife, Patricia Lentz, Miriam (Patti) Casillas and her husband, Pastor Matthew White, Maria (Lupe) Hernandez and her husband, Miguel Hernandez, Araceli (Shelli) Guajardo and her husband, Juan Guajardo, Angel Casillas and his wife, Aidee (Christy) Sanchez, and Elizabeth (Liz) Casillas and her husband, Johnnie East, Jr.; brothers, Lucio Casillas and his wife, Maria (Tommie) Casillas, and Beto Casillas and his wife, Angelina Casillas.; his sisters; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Private Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service for members of the family, beginning at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas.

A private Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, October 16, 2020, at Calvary Worship Center, 14901 Burnet Rd., Austin, Texas.  Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, Texas.

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services.
