Obituary of Jose Jaime Mendez

Our beloved Jose Jaime Mendez, age 52, was called to our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Juana Vargas; his grandfather, Victoriano Vargas; his aunt, Paula Vargas; and his unlce Ramiro Vargas.

Jose is survived by his father, Jose T. Mendez; his children, Vanessa Mendez (Marcelino Escobedo), Jaime Mendez Jr., Ivan Mendez, and Angel Mendez; his companion and friend, Maria Martinez; his siblings, Maria Julia Mendez and her husband, Santos Alejo, Maria del Rosario and her husband, Joaquin Reyes, Gabriela Vargas and her husband, Saturnino, Angelica Cruz and her husband, Eladio, Christina Mendez Anaya and her husband, Gustavo, and Alejandra Mendez; his seven grandchildren: Evelyn Mendez, Leslie Gonzales, Adrian Gonzales, Saul Gonzales, Ian Mendez, Ace Mendez, and Alayna Mendez; and many, many loving friends and family. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home East, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez, Ausitn, Texas, 78702.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following morning, Thursday, October 1, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1206 E. 9th St., Austin, Texas 78702. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services. 

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.

Nuestro amado Jose Jaime Mendez, de 52 años, fue llamado a nuestro Padre Celestial el miércoles 23 de septiembre de 2020. 

Fue precedido en la muerte por su madre, María Juana Vargas; su abuelo, Victoriano Vargas; su tía, Paula Vargas; y su tío Ramiro Vargas.

A José le sobreviven su padre, José T. Méndez; sus hijos, Vanessa Mendez (Marcelino Escobedo), Jaime Mendez Jr., Iván Mendez y Ángel Mendez; su compañera y amiga, María Martínez; sus hermanos, María Julia Mendez y su esposo, Santos Alejo, María del Rosario y su esposo, Joaquín Reyes, Gabriela Vargas y su esposo, Saturnino, Angelica Cruz y su esposo, Eladio, Christina Mendez Anaya y su esposo, Gustavo y Alejandra Mendez; sus siete nietos: Evelyn Mendez, Leslie Gonzales, Adrian Gonzales, Saul Gonzales, Ian Mendez, Ace Mendez y Alayna Mendez; y muchos, muchos amigos y familiares. 

El velorio se llevará a cabo el miércoles 30 de septiembre de 2020, a partir de las 5:00 p.m. hasta las 9:00 p.m., con un rezo del Santo Rosario a partir de las 7:00 p.m., en Mission Funeral Home East, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez, Ausitn, Texas, 78702.

La misa de entierro cristiano se llevará a cabo la mañana siguiente, jueves 1 de octubre de 2020, a las 11:00 am, en la iglesia católica Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1206 E. 9th St., Austin, Texas 78702. Seguirá el sepelio en el cementerio de Assumption.

Debido a las restricciones de Coronavirus / COVID-19 de la ciudad de Austin,

los niveles de capacidad están restringidos en las funerarias, iglesias y cementerios.

Cada persona que ingrese a la funeraria, la iglesia y el cementerio deberá usar una máscara.

y practicar el distanciamiento social de 6 pies o más. Si está enfermo o le preocupa el virus,

se recomienda que no asista a los servicios.
