Obituary of John C. Nombrana

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved Juanio “John” Nombrana, age 69, was called to our Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 10, 2020.

In God's Garden, God looked around his garden, and he found an empty place. He then looked down upon this earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting difficult, and the hills were hard to climb, so he closed your weary eyelids, and whispered "Peace be thine." It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone... For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

John was a devoted husband to Selma, the love of his life and soulmate for 50 years.  Never a day went by without him showing his love and devotion for her.  His devotion and love shined brightly as “Pop” and “Daddy” to his kids, Anthony, Sandra, Richard and Aryanna.  “Popo” doted on his grandchildren, Desiree, Emerie, Selina (Easton), Richard Jr., Marissa, Javier Christian, Anthony Robert, John Isaac, Brianna, Anabella, Athena, Xena and Dominik.  His day would not be complete without the love for his great-grandchildren, Damian, Tristen, Aubree and Alex.

John was born in San Marcos in 1951 to parents Juan and Paz Nombrana.  After spending his early childhood between Lubbock and Austin, he settled his family in Austin where he applied his craft as an upholsterer and business owner.  As part of his devotion to his family, John worked almost every day of his life. He wanted to make sure his family never lacked for anything.  He was an avid car collector and was always happy to talk about his toys.  John was at his happiest when he was with his family and always looked forward to weekends.  He loved being an usher at Christian Life Church and praised and worshipped his blessings every day.  His heart was filled with love and always helped those in need, from giving a spiritual boost, or the fatherly advice he gave many to sharing his craft so others may learn.

John is preceded in death by his father, Juan Nombrana and sister Sally Frausto.  He is survived by his wife, Selma; children Anthony Nombrana, Sandra Guerra (Javier), Richard Nombrana (Monica) and Aryanna Nombrana.  He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  He is cherished by all his brothers and sisters in Lubbock, along with all his nieces and nephews.  John will be dearly missed by all his friends, past and present.
