Obituary of Alfonso Candelas, Jr.

Our beloved Alfonso Candelas, Jr., age 77, was called to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 30, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso Candelas, Sr. and Lupe Candelas; his precious granddaughter, Elora Trinidad Candelas, and his sisters Gloria Guzman and Mary Lupe Saucedo.

Alfonso is survived by his children, Steven Candelas and his wife, Mary, Eric Candelas (Lisa Alba), Carol Candelas, Ruben Candelas and his wife, JoAnn, Rachel Mendez, Michael Candelas and his wife, Amanda, Lydia Ann Candelas, John Paul Candelas, and Lisa Marie Candelas; 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1206 E. 9th St., Austin, Texas.  Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted and reduced at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services. 

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
