I won't say good-bye to Johnny, I'll just ask him to continue to watch over the community and give us guidance as we continue the struggle for the betterment of the poor, the working poor, and people of color. Johnny, worked with PODER for decades. He hosted meetings at his house to talk with elected officials about the toxic tank farm. Johnny was there working to relocate BFI that was bringing pollution to the community. His dedication to correcting the intersection at Bolm Road and Airport Blvd, has saved lives. He supported the fight against CodeNEXT, he knew it would just cause more displacement in the community. Johnny was always there to give us guidance, together we brought so many positive changes to the Eastside. I will be forever calling ujpon Johnny to spiritually guide us in the struggle for equity for our love ones and for the next generation.
We send blessings to all the family and friends. Johnny's spirit will live on. Love, Susana Almanza, PODER

Since the late 80's I had the privilege of being in the midst of Johnny's passionate knowledge and wisdom as he address the needs of the undeserved-- particularly in the area of housing. Johnny was relentless in his pursuit of shalom (completeness) for his fellow Austinites who needed assistance finding their voice. And perhaps more importantly, Johnny was nice. He was a super effective community advocate, but he was also a gentleman. Those of us that were blessed to know him, will miss him; but so will those that did not know him, for the entire community benefited from Johnny's ministry. He was a community asset. Well, Johnny has finished his race and he ran it with excellence. In fact, when I listen with my sanctified ears, I hear God saying to Johnny: "Well done, my good and faithful servant." Thank you Johnny for giving all of you to us and your family; and thank you God for the gift that was Johnny Limon.
With love,
Ashton and Jennifer Cumberbatch

So very saddened to learn of the unexpected death of our longtime friend and strong East Austin advocate, Johnny Limon. Thanks to Johnny, Libby and I have a multi-colored T-shirt collection from many years of Limon Family Reunions. Los Limones are not only a big family, they are a family with a big heart. For decades, Johnny often served as a family spokesman and was a respected voice for the larger community on most every activity in East Austin. To me personally, he was a loyal friend with strong views, but a gentle manner. Devoted to fellow Santa Julia parishioners, he was a loving son, who cared for and brought to many events his mother, who lived to be 103. There is a void on Calle Limon. He will be greatly missed.

With the greatest thoughts that God has granted me, I want to express my sincerest condolences to all the Limon family.
Although I want to say that I will miss Johnny so much, he always bought light to my heart each time I had the opportunity to speak with him. The last time I ran into him was at Dans Barber shop and while he was getting a haircut, he once again he bought a smile to my face with his humorous “hello Tino Latino.”
He will be truly missed by many.
