Obituary of Gloria C. Moreno
It is with great sorrow that we announce that our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and matriarch, Gloria “Nana” Contreras Moreno, 81, of Austin, TX, passed away on August 3, 2020 in Del Valle, TX.
Gloria was born in Creedmoor, TX to Dionicio Contreras and Severa Gamez on March 12, 1939. She married Magdaleno “Eleno” Rodriguez Moreno Sr. on August 14, 1955 in Austin, TX. She was employed at Handy Andy’s meat market for 5 years, Child Inc. for 15 years as a daycare provider and also 4 years as line lead at Tracor Aerospace.
Gloria was a woman who loved life. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Eleno to many different places throughout their lives. She was a devout Catholic who attended San Francisco Javier church for many years. She had a green thumb and loved taking care of her plants around her home. She was a crafter who liked to crochet and sew on her leisure time. Nana loved spending time and opening her home to family. She would make holidays so special, from decorating her home inside and out, to cooking huge delicious meals. She made every occasion so fun and memorable. She loved her family immensely and created a space in our lives that will always be valued. We will never forget how special and loving our Nana was to us.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Eleno R. Moreno; her children: Joe Louis (Stella) Moreno, Pricilla (Michael) Kennedy, Magdaleno “B.B.” (Marina) Moreno Jr., Margaret (Martin) Castillo, Chentima “Chenney” Zapata; her siblings, Mary (Tom)Torres-Remly, John “JC” (Lydia) Contreras, Josie (Onesimo) Banda, Valentin “VO” (Mary-Anne) Contreras; her 13 grandchildren; her 17 great-grandchildren; her 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased in death by: her parents, Dionicio Sr. and Severa Contreras; her grandsons, Jonas Jeremiah Alonzo and Jaime Dominic Castillo; her siblings, Ramona Contreras, Valentine (Maggie) Contreras, Jesse Contreras, Cleto (Antonia) Contreras, Vincent (Phina) Contreras, Rosa Longoria, Julio (Herminia) Contreras, Georgia (Epimenio) Torres, Dionicio (Mary) Contreras Jr., Guadalupe (Steve) Arredondo and her daughter-in-law, Irma Moreno.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Reyna Pettengillz, Nancy Butler, Michelle Owens, Carol Clark, Lucretia Jacobs, Keith Bray and Angela Bray of Heart to Heart Hospice for their unwavering dedication to care. May God bless and keep each of you.
