Our beloved father, Gilbert T. Escobar Sr., age 90, of Austin was called to his eternal home by our Savior on Monday, December 23, 2002. Gilbert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Petra and Son, Gilbert Escobar Jr.Gilbert is survived by his beloved daughters, Minnie Gomez and husband Victor, Janie Perez, Mary Beltran, Patsy E. Thomas, and Carmen E. Quintero, all of Austin; one son Pete Escobar, of Austin; 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Recitation of rosary will be Friday December 27, 2002 at 7:00 P.M. Mission Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday December 28, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Father Larry Mattingly will officiate. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Victor Gomez Jr., Abel Perez III, Michelle Escobar, Thomas Gomez, Richard Beltran, Bill Thomas, Scott Donio, David Serrano Jr., . Honorary pallbearer will be Jose Quintero Jr. Special note of gratitude is given to Richard and Mary Beltran and her children, Jesse, Michelle and Amy for providing the constant care Mr. Escobar required. A Thank you to Dr. Mayorga and the Staff at Rosewood Clinic, Meals on Wheels and Girling.
