Obituary of John Rudolph Martinez

Our Beloved, John (JB/John Boy) Martinez, age 45, entered the gates of Eternal Serenity, on Sunday, July 5, 2020.

In his too short-life, JB shared his huge heart with everyone he met. He was eager to lend a helping hand and make people laugh, even when he was struggling. With a child-like spirit, JB found joy all around. Some of his greatest loves were: His mama, siblings, his nephews, his great-niece, and he loved working in the Service and Construction Industry. He loved driving his Jeep, the beach, heavy metal music, fishing, concerts, eating at "dive" restaurants, the Three Stooges, drawing, and playing pranks on people.

He was preceded in death by his Paternal & Maternal Grandparents and his father, John V. Martinez.

JB is survived by his mother, Theresa Martinez; his brother Steve Martinez and wife, Jennifer; sister Shirley Martinez and wife Suzanne; and sister Jennifer Martinez and fiancé Cory Washington. He is also survived by nephews Issiac, Stevie, Ivan, and Zeus Martinez, as well as great-niece Maddie Martinez. He was loved, and will be missed by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and a ton of friends from all across Texas, and then some.

Due to the Coronavirus / COVID-19 Pandemic

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday July 19, 2020 at Mission Funeral Home - South. (Limit 60 Guests) Each person entering the funeral home is required to have a mask and practice social distancing of 6 feet or more for your safety and those around you.

Services are being live-streamed at Mission Funeral Home - South Side on Facebook to allow participcation by those who can not be present.  We advise those who want to participate via live-stream to log on to Facebook prior to the services to insure you know how to log on. You must have your own Facebook Page as well.  There is no additional staff on duty at the time of the service to help with logging on and getting connected.
