Obituary of Benjamin S. Figueroa
Our beloved Benjamin S. Figueroa, age 94, was called to our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. He was born January 4, 1926 in Giddings, Texas. Mr. Figueroa proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard. Ben retired from Bergstrom Air Force Base after 35 years as a civil engineer in masonry. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lydia Figueroa; his parents, Porfirio and Luz Figueroa, and his siblings, Lalo Figueroa, Pete Figueroa, Pascual Figueroa, Carlos Rodriguez, Lupe Chapa, Mike Rodriguez, Martha Figueroa, Teresa Lopez, and Eloisa Chavez; his son-in-law, Cesar Ruiz; and his brother-in-laws, Martin Piña and Manuel Ramirez.
Ben is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Ramona Figueroa; his children, Elizabeth Figueroa Ruiz, Gary Figueroa and his wife, Andrea, and Mona Tyler and her husband, Terrence; his grandchildren, Rene Martinez and fiance, AnaMarie Ramirez, Lydia Ruiz Diaz and her husband, Edward, Cesar Oscar Ruiz and his wife, Adriana, Javier Figueroa Ruiz, Christopher Figueroa, Michelle Figueroa, Benjamin Figueroa, Amanda Figueroa, Jamie Edward Figueroa Picon and his wife, Clara, Anthony William Picon and partner, Trevor Frank, and Gabriella Victoria Picon and fiance, Miguel Hernandez; his siblings, Paula Hernandez and her husband, Nacho, Mary Piña and SueAnn Ramirez; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2020 at Sta. Julia Catholic Church on Tillery St., Austin, Texas. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Feeder Rd., Austin, Texas.
Rosary will be live-streamed to allow participation by those unable to attend through Facebook Live Mission - South Side.
Due to the Coronavirus / COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,
capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.
Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask
and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more. If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,
it is recommended that you not attend services.
