Obituary of Richard C. Gil

Our Beloved Richard C. Gil “Papo”, age 71, of Austin, Texas, was called Home on Saturday, March 14, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Gil and Julia Carlin Gil; brothers, Eugene Gil Jr. and Fernando Gil; and sister Guadalupe Soriano.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Gil; his children: Neenah Gil Cerda (Victor), Reynaldo Hernandez (Mellie), Richard Gil Jr. (Mary K), Liza Gil (Robert Allen), and Eugene Gil III; siblings: Minerva Castillo (Jesse), Cordelia Espinosa (Raymond), Rick Gil, Barbara Gil Calderon (Fernando), Mary Gil Surita (Joe), Janie Gil Rodriguez (Johnny), Carmen Gil Ybarra (Joe), Carolyn Gil Ramirez (Robert), Raymond Gil (Katina), and Albert Gil; 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.

 

Coronavirus Restrictions from the City of Austin

 

Due to the latest Coronavirus Restrictions, implemented on March 17, 2020 by the City of Austin and Travis County, visitation will be limited to 10 people in the chapel at all times. You may come visit Mr. Gil “Papo” any time from 3:00 - 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020 at Mission Funeral Home – South Side.

Mr. Gil’s family will be holding a Private Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020. Please search for Mission Funeral Home South Side on your facebook page or click on this link  Mission Funeral Home South Side Facebook Live to join.

Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Catholic Church on Saturday, March 21, 2020. Interment will follow at Onion Creek Cemetery.

Once restrictions are lifted for Community Gatherings, The Gil Family will host a Celebration of Life for Papo. Those details will be announced at a later date.

The Gil Family greatly appreciates all of your love and support during this time.
