Obituary of Robert Donley

Our beloved Robert Anthony Donley, age 72, resident of Austin went to rest on September 23, 2002. Robert was a man who manifested in the Spirit of Christ in his life. Robert was identified and a gentleman and a scholar. One who has made a difference in peoples lives with his devotion to help his neighbors. He will continue to do so through his spirit and confidants. His wisdom was elite.
He proudly served his country in the armed forces and devoted most of his time to Cristo Rey Catholic Church choir. He championed the East Austin Town Lake Citizen Neighborhood Assoc. and Buena Vista Neighborhood Assoc., which he served as president to both. He also served as Commissioner to the Austin Arts Commission. He was recognized as Honorary Travis Co. Commissioner Pct 4. He chaired the Holly Power Plant Closure Committee and was a member of El Consilio Coalition. He had many other interests that were dear to his heart.
His parents Delores and Raymond Donley Sr., Sister, Helen Donley and Brother Frankie Donley preceded Robert in death. Sons, John Albert Martinez and Robert Martinez.
He leaves most beloved and vibrant Priscilla, Sons, Charles Martinez and wife Gloria, Herbert Martinez, Hector Martinez and wife Kristen, and very loved Paul Martinez and wife Norma. Daughter, Priscilla and husband Lewis Katz, all of Austin. Brothers, Raymond Jr of Houston, Manuel ?Cowboy? of Austin, Joe of San Antonio and Edward Donley of California, Sisters, Delores Diaz of Houston, Guadalupe Menchaca and Beatrice Carlin of California. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren many nieces nephews and friends.
Recitation of rosary Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. at Cristo Rey Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Cristo Rey Church. Father Larry will officiate. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Robert Martinez, Robert Katz, Billy Ferren Sr, Christopher Resendez, Robert Galindo, Chris Gutierrez, and Sal Bonotello.
Honorary pallbearers are Michael Nunez, Gavino Fernandez, Paul Hernandez and Marcos De Leon.
