Obituary of Ronald Charles Castañeda

Our beloved Ronald "Ronnie" Charles Castañeda, age 72, was called to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 26, 2020.  Ronald proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army.  Ronald retired from Cap Metro after 20 plus years of service to Austin, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary Castañeda and his siblings, Ricky Castañeda, Betty Pruitt, and Jesse Castañeda.  

Ronald is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sylvia Castañeda; his children, Ronald Victor Castañeda and his wife, Laura; Carla Castillo; Darlene Neslage and her husband, Rob, James Pate, and April Earle and her husband, Don; his grandchildren, Destiny Medrano, Rozlyn Castañeda, Maria Elena Castañeda, Ronald "RJ" Castañeda, Jr., Konrad Scott Rodriguez, Kellie Corpus, Emily Neslage, Logan Neslage, and Henry Earle; his great-granddaughter, Cataleya Longoria; his brothers, Joey Castañeda and his wife, Maggie, Mike Castañeda and his wife, Oralia, Jerry Castañeda and his wife, Cindy, Jaime "JJ" Castañeda and his wife, Bee, and Anthony Castañeda; his sisters, Renee Ramirez and her husband, Roy, and Danielle Ramirez.  Ronald is also survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ron Castañeda, Steven E. Lara, Jaime Castañeda, Mitchell Sifuentes, Zach Castañeda, and Jesse Castañeda.  Honorary Pallbearers will be his brothers, Joey Castañeda, Mike Castañeda, Jaime "JJ" Castañeda, Anthony Castañeda and Jerry Castañeda, and his grandson, Ronald "RJ" Castañeda, Jr.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1206 E. 9th St., Austin, Texas.  Interment will follow with Military Honors at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 IH 35 S Feeder Rd., Austin, Texas.
