Obituary of Irene Peña Serrano
Our beloved Irene Peña Serrano, age 79, resident of Austin, was born into eternal life on Saturday, June 1, 2019. She was reunited with her sons, David Serrano and Victor Serrano III; her parents, Eleuterio and Eva Casas Peña; and her brother, Eleuterio Peña, Jr.
Irene is survived by her children, Christina Serrano, Gracie Serrano, Olivia Serrano, and Javier Serrano; her grandchildren, Victoria Hernandez and Marisol Serrano, who were raised as her own, Elidio Cruz, Jr., Angelica Cruz, Justin Serrano, David Serrano, Nina Serrano, Sara Serrano, Emilio Serrano, Raymond Fabian, Jr., Victor Serrano IV, Elizabeth Serrano, Martin Serrano, Jacob Serrano, Eva Serrano, Javier Luis Serrano, Javier Serrano, Jr., and Robert Serrano; 35 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren with one more on the way; her siblings, Carolina Peña Serrano, Maricela Peña Benites, Patricia Elena Peña, Elias Casas Peña, and his spouse, Isabel, and Felipe Jose Peña, and his spouse, Dolores; her nieces and nephews, Joseph Andrew Serrano, Celeste Serrano, Eleuterio Peña III, Jennifer Peña Martinez, Christina Morales, Michael Morales, Moses Benites, Micah Benites, Elias Peña, Jr., Mila Peña, Felipe Peña, Jr., and Benita Peña; her spirit sister, Vera Rodriguez; her sister-in-law, Rita Peña; numerous other family members and many friends.
Our Most Loving Irene Peña Serrano is our sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was known for being self-sacrificing, BRAVE, compassionate, joyful, patient, kind, a mild personality.
She was a "humanitarian", always listening to others. Ready to reach out to sacrifice herself for everyone else before herself.
We will deeply miss her every day.
Her memory will never be forgotten.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2019, with Recitation of Holy Rosary, at Mission Funeral Home - East Side, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez St., Austin, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, Robert T. Martinez & 2nd St., Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
