Obituary of Leonardo Madrano
Please share a memory of Leonardo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Leonard Medrano, beloved son, brother, uncle, friend and all around good guy passed away on February 6, 2002, in Austin, Texas. One of eight children, Leonard was born on February 20, 1947 in Pflugerville, Texas, to Jovita and Pablo Medrano, Sr. In 1950 his father moved the family to Austin. Leonard received his education in the Austin Public Schools and was a life long supporter of his alma mater Johnston High School. It was at Johnston that Leonard first distinguished himself in the printing industry by winning statewide competitions for vocational printing projects. The graphics arts industry became his vocation. He was a member of the Austin Litho Club for most of his professional life. Leonard was a faithful and lifelong member of his neighborhood church, Cristo Rey Catholic Church. He was an active member from the start, beginning with his first communion. He served as past president of the Men?s Club and was active on various Church committees. Even after moving out of the neighborhood, Cristo Rey remained his church. Disability forced his early retirement from the graphic arts industry and limited his participation at the church, but he maintained his friendship with many colleagues. He is preceded in death by his father, Pablo Medrano, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Jovita; sisters, Mary Raigosa and Julia Machuca; brothers, Robert, Joe, Paul, Ruben and Tony; nephews, Michael Raigosa, David Raigosa and Javier Medrano; nieces, Monique Austin, Cathy Martinez, Katy Medrano and Sonia Medrano; sister-in-laws, Marcia Harelik and Janelle Medrano; brother-in-laws, Larry Raigosa and Toby Machuca; aunt, Felisa Medrano and uncle Nicholas Medrano. Leonardo will be missed by all. His sense of humor, work ethic and charity will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Leonardo Medrano?s memory to the Cristo Rey Catholic Church Men?s Club. Visitation and viewing will be held on Friday, February 8, 2002 from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. at Mission Funeral Home. Rosary will be held on Friday, February 8, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church with viewing one hour prior to the service. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at 1:30 p.m., also at Cristo Rey. Mausoleum entombment immediately to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
