Obituary of Juanita R. Sanchez

Our Beloved Juanita R. Sanchez, age 78, of Austin, Texas was called by our Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 3, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 10 years Jacinto Sanchez; her parents Ines Rodriguez and Concepcion Puente Rodriguez; brother Pablo Rodriguez; and her sisters Belen Reyna and Aurelia Flores.  

She is survived by her loving daughters Maria Sanchez Daily and Teresa “Teri” Sanchez; son-in-law Greg Daily; grandchildren Justin Schoenfeld, Christopher (Desiree) Schoenfeld, and Laura Lynn Daily; great grandson Cameron Schoenfeld; siblings Fernando Rodriguez, Juan Rodriguez, and Antonio Rodriguez; and numerous other loving family and friends.

She lived her life in service at church and to her family and friends.

Juanita was a devoted parishioner of Cristo Rey for decades until she was no longer able to drive. She served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, breakfast group leader, and as a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. 

She was a caregiver to many, including her husband, Jacinto; her mother, Conchita, and her two sisters, Chata and China when they were all in poorer health. 

Jacinto had bought a house across the street from Station #4 in West Austin when they got married in 1971. For over 3 decades, firefighters were spoiled by Juanita who cooked and baked various foods. She never favored one shift over another. She made sure all 3 shifts enjoyed tamales, cinnamon rolls made from scratch and weekend breakfast tacos, among many other treats. 

There are many memories, but not enough time or space to share them all. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Mission Funeral Home – South located at 6204 South First Street; Austin, Texas 78745. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019 at San Jose Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
