Obituary of Joseph Brandon Gonzales

Our beloved Joseph Brandon Gonzales, age 39, resident of Austin, was called to our Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 7, 2019 after a courageous six month battle with stage four colon cancer. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Feliciano and Fernanda Gonzales, Vincent and Minnie Padilla, and Katherine Parker.

Joseph was born on July 27, 1979 in Wharton, Texas, and graduated from Manor High School in 1997. Following high school, he attended Southwest Texas State, graduating with a Bachelors in Business and Finance in 2002. As Bar Manager at Seven Grand Whiskey Bar in Austin, Texas he served his patrons with pride and enthusiasm. Prior to his time at Seven Grand, Joseph spent nine years in Los Angeles, CA following his passion of acting.

All who knew Joseph agree that one of many amazing things about him was the effort he took to make sure those he loved knew how he felt, whether girlfriend, his family, or his friends.  He would go out of his way to make sure everyone close to him knew how much he cared.  Joseph had a way of making everyone feel like they were one of his closest friends, and was so absolutely, completely sincere about it.  He will be greatly missed.

Joseph is survived by his parents, Jose (Joe) Gonzales and Cynthia Padilla-Gonzales of Austin, Texas; his mother, Mollie McCarley of Temple, Texas; girlfriend, Jacklynn Endsley of Austin, Texas; sisters, Aisha Denise Dull and husband, Alan Dull of Austin, Texas, and Crystal Camarena of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nieces and nephews, Vincent De La Fuente, Samuel Ybarra, Corey Dull, all of Austin, Texas, and Haley Ybarra of Colorado.

He is also survived by, aunts and uncles, Ann and George Eubanks of Temple, Texas, Alice and Kenneth Machac of Victoria, Texas, James McCarley of Gatesville, Texas, Bill McCarley of Gatesville, Texas, Ralph and Mona Gonzales of Victoria, Texas, Jake and Jennifer Gonzales of Spring, Texas, Agapito and Irma Gonzales of Bay City, Texas, Rachel Torres, Rudy and Nieves Garcia of Escondido, California, Ramon and Mary Gonzales of Corpus Christi, Texas, Albert Gonzales of Victoria, Texas, Adam and Patricia Gonzales of Victoria, Texas, Carmen and Reynaldo Reyna of Murrieta, California, Jesse and Marisol Gonzales of Victoria, Texas, and Michael Gonzales of Escondido, California, and numerous loving family and friends.

The Gonzales family would like to especially thank his dad for all his unwavering love, encouragement, and words of wisdom; and his mom Cindy for raising Joseph from the age of 14, especially these last 6 months during his illness.

A special thank you to his cousins, Cody, Meg, Jamie, Ralph Jason (RJ), Damian, Robert, Jake-Paul, Kristopher, Nathan, Jonathan, Justin, Joel, Jose, T, Marisa, Monique, Megan, Kristine, Natalie, Kristen, Bianca, Amelia, Stephen, Tiffany, Stacy, and Mike; his sister, Aisha for all her prayers and pep talks, and his sister, Crystal, for her upfront, straight conversation and saying it as it is when necessary.  In addition, we want to thank the loving aunts - Ann, Alice, Mona, Jennifer, Mary, Patricia, Nieves, Carmen, Marisol, Irma; and all those who offered support, love and prayers throughout our time of great need.

Visitation - Friday, March 15, 2019 starting at 3:00 p.m., with recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home - 6204 South First St., Austin, Texas.

Mass of Christian Burial - Saturday, March 16, 2019will begin at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1206 E. Ninth St., Austin, Texas.  Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery, 1920 Railroad St., Gatesville, Texas.
