Obituary of Kaleb Angelo Castillo
Our Beloved Kaleb Angelo Castillo, age 14 months, of Austin, Texas was called by our Heavenly Father on Monday, January 28, 2019.
Our precious baby Kaleb Angelo Castillo was born November 13, 2017. Mid-term we found out he had CHD (congenital heart defect). Doctors predicted he would need immediate surgery but he did so good that we were able to wait until he got bigger & stronger.
Later in March of 2018 Kaleb was admitted into the hospital for a lower heart rate than what was normal for him. He was moved to the PICU where he later caught a blood infection from a bad picc line. Kaleb got very sick and was on a ventilator at 100% oxygen. He even went into cardiac arrest twice during this visit at the hospital but Kaleb being the warrior he is, recovered and was back to being the HAPPIEST baby just like we remember him. It was May of 2018, doctors decided Kaleb was ready for his big open heart surgery. The surgery was preformed well; only the surgeon wasn’t able to fix the main problem they went in for (leaky valve).
August of 2018 he was rushed to the hospital because his color was more blue than normal. During this visit we found out that Kaleb's right lung was never fully developed and his left lung was doing all the work. They let us know with Kaleb's condition there was nothing they could do so he was put on hospice. After finding this out, Kaleb caught pneumonia and fought past that, then RSV and fought past that. Kaleb didn't have a spleen so fighting infections like those were a battle for him. He was sick in and out the hospital throughout his life but he fought past it all, as the warrior he was. Being the amazing, inspiring person he was he kept a smile on his face though it all. He laughed and he'd play even on his worst days. Kaleb was one of the strongest babies ever! No matter what he was going through, he was always full of joy, which will always be a reminder from Kaleb to us all to smile no matter what battles God gives you! Kaleb will always be remembered as a true warrior and our hero. Filled with so much happiness he would light up the room and when you met him, you couldn’t help but to fall in love with him. This we know God took our hero home. We will forever love and miss you with a smile.
He is survived by his loving and devoted parents Jose Angel Castillo and Suzette Ann Marie Rivera; grandmother Angelica Rivera; grandmother Maria Elena Alonso, grandfather Domitilo Castillo; great grandparents Don and Dora Rivera; aunts Marissa Mojica, Tatyana Rivera and Yesenia Castillo; uncles Matthew Ruiz, Abraham Ruiz, Juan Cazares, and Sunny Murillo; and countless other loving family and friends.
We would also like to give a very special thank you to Dell Children’s Hospital and staff, Dallas Children Medical Center and staff, Kaleb’s Amazing Cardiac Team Children’s Cardiology Associates, the Comprehensive Care Clinic and staff, Hospice Austin and the rest of his care team for taking special care of our sweet baby boy. Thank you to all those who keep him in prayer, and rooted for him throughout his journey of life. He faught a good fight, and will forever live on through us ️
Fly high Kaleb Angelo!
