Obituary of Frank Gilberto Sanchez, Jr.

Our beloved SFC Frank Gilberto Sanchez, Jr., age 86, resident of Austin and San Antonio, was born into eternal life on Friday, January 18, 2019. He was welcomed into the Kingdom by his son, Danny Sanchez; his parents, Francisco Sanchez, Sr., and Theresa Garnica; and the mother of his children, Belia Flores Sanchez. 

Frank Sanchez served proudly in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class; his honorable footsteps were followed into the military by his sons, Sgt. Frank Sanchez III and PO3 Danny Sanchez, and his grandson, SSG Frank Sanchez IV. 

Continuing his career of service, Frank Sanchez worked for Travis County as a Sheriff's deputy; he also loaned his support of the East Side community, where many received his help. Frank would then go on to work several positions, including working with the Railroad Commission, with the State of Texas, from which he retired.

Frank Sanchez is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Olga Jimenez; his children, Gilbert Sanchez and his wife, Mary Helen, Gloria Sanchez Barrett and her husband, Marcus, Frank Gilberto Sanchez III and his wife, Aggie, and Teresa Vronka; his step-children, Jose Calderon, Javier Calderon and his wife, Monica, David Calderon and his wife, Enriqueta, Sally Ann Calderon, Mary Casasola and her husband Carlos, and Terry Franks and her husband, Adarryl; a total of 17 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchilren; his sisters, Julia Wooley and her husband, Randy, Irene Ramirez, and her husband, Sisto, and Cruz Pulido;  numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends. 

Honored Pallbearers are as follows: Carlos Padilla, Daniel Sanchez, Alex Sanchez, SSG Frank Sanchez IV, Tony Vronka, Chet Vronka.

The Sanchez Family would like to thank the Hospital and Hospice of the Audie L. Murphy VA hospital in San Antonio for the care of their loved one.

Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Mission Funeral Home - East Side, ,1615 East Cesar Chavez Street, Austin, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2208 East Second Street, Austin, Texas. Interment to Follow at Assumption Cemetery.
