Obituary of Ernestina Alicea Sanchez
Our Beloved Ernestina Alicea Sánchez, age 78, of San Juan, Puerto Rico, was called by our Heavenly Father on Friday, October 19, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pedro Soto and her parents Eusebio Alicea and Mercedes Sánchez, her sister Petra Alicea Sánchez, and nephews José Medina Alicea and José “Panchito” Alicea.
She is survived by her loving children Daisy (Carlos) Aviles, Felipe Torres, Anibal (Cherry) De Gracia, Virginia (Harold) Reynolds, and Alfredo (Michele) Jiménez, 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous other loving family and friends along with her faithful sweet pet, Peluche.
As a young lady, she moved to New York in search for a better life but her heart remained in her beloved island. After many years of living on the mainland, she returned back. She worked as a Social Worker for the Senior Activity Center also known as “El Centro de Amelia” of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico for many years. Her passion was helping and looking out for her “seniors” well-being. This was her true calling and legacy – to love and help others.
She loved to garden, cook, listen to her favorite music and travel to Texas, her other home.
