Our beloved Raymond B. Gonzales, Jr, age 90, resident of Austin, Texas was called by our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 24, 2001. Mr. Gonzales and his wife Carmen founded Austin long time landmark La Tapatia Mexican Restaurant located on East 6th street. He and his wife spent much of there efforts helping and feeding the residents and politicians of Austin. Countless politicians relied upon the Austin landmark for fundraising events helping a number of those politicians of today get elected to all branches of state and local government. Mr. Gonzales was a noted businessman in other endeavors such as his land excavation trucking company. Mr. Gonzales also served his country honorably in WWII. The residents of East Austin will always remember Mr. Gonzales and his wife Carmen for their kindness, love and effortless duty towards the community. He was preceded in death his beloved wife Carmen R. Gonzales and daughter Evangeline Briones. Survivors include: son Albert Gonzales, sister Lucia Sanchez and son-in-law James Briones. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Recitation of rosary Friday, 7:30 P.M. at Mission Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Rev. Father J.C. Cain will officiate. Interment will follow in Santa Maria Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are Edward Briones, Thomas Briones, Rick Gonzales, Albert Gonzales Jr., Matt Warde, and funeral director Charles Villase?or II.
