Obituary of Gerardo "Jerry" Riojas

On Friday the 1st of June 2018 in Austin Texas, Gerardo “Jerry” Riojas, age 58, our beloved husband, father, grandfather “Popo”, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend, was called home by our Heavenly Father.
 

Jerry was born February 23, 1960 and was a lifelong resident of Austin.  He worked as a truck driver, hauling material in his big rig around Austin and surrounding areas.  Just as he delivered the foundations, driveways, and the base that we all use today, Jerry also laid a foundation in our hearts. With a loving big smile, eyes that cared, and a heart that would give till he had no more, Jerry was always there to lend an ear, a handshake, or a hug that would comfort us.  Jerry deeply loved his wife, family and grandchildren, and these, the greatest treasures in his life, will miss him dearly.  The foundation he laid in our heart is where we find him today, the angel watching over us, beside the Heavenly Father, is where we will find him for eternity.  

He was preceded in death by his parents Pablo N. Riojas and Estella B. Riojas

He is survived by his loving wife Melissa Moreno-Riojas; daughter Viannae (Cesar) Romero and their children Arianna Kristine and Karina Soledad; daughter Lauren Riojas (Jeremy Lara) and her child, Caden Paul Mader; siblings, Mary Alice (Julio) Ojeda, Jose Pablo (Margaret) Riojas, Raul (Bilma) Riojas, Irene (Eugenio) Garcia, Sylvia (Robert) Estrada, Ruben (Cynthia) Riojas, Yolanda Riojas, Mario (Vickie) Riojas, Joe Gilbert (Ashley) Riojas;  (33) nieces and nephews; and numerous other loving family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Mission Funeral Home – South Side, 6204 South First Street;  Austin, Texas 78745. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 7, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
