Obituary of José M.H. Briceño
Our Beloved José M.H. Briceño, age 74, of Cedar Creek, Texas, was called by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 14, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Teresa Briceño and his sister, San Juanita Briceño Cruz and his brother-in-law, Matias Cruz and nephew, John Flores.
Mr. Briceño spent many years working for Travis County in the Juvenile Division as a social worker. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Southwest Texas State, now Texas State, University and was working towards his graduate degree in statistics. Prior to moving to the Juvenile Division, he worked many years for the Texas State Teacher's Association. Mr. Briceño remained a learner his entire life and was active in his church and community. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
José is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Frances De La Cruz Briceño; his children, Joseph Patrick Briceño and Candace Michelle Briceño-Connolly, and her husband, Thomas Joseph Connolly; grandchildren, Ava Marie Briceño-Jantz and Ottavia Francisca Leona Connolly Briceño; his siblings, Andrew (Monica) H. Briceño, Mary Cruz Flores, Chris (Dion) B. Cruz, Ray (Sonya) B. Cruz, Cecil (Rosemary) B. Cruz, and John (Vanessa) B. Cruz; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Mission Funeral Home – South Side, 6204 South First Street; Austin, Texas 78745.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2018 at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church, 126 W. Oltorf St., Austin, Texas 78704. Interment will follow at Clark Chapel Cemetery in Lockhart, Texas.
