Obituary of Lorenzo Garcia

Lorenzo Garcia Avila passed peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, April 8, 2018. He was born in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico on August 10, 1925 to Angel Garcia and Nicolasa Avila. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Maria Luisa, his sons, Antonio, Jose Angel, Reynaldo and daughters Paula and Gloria.

He is survived by his brother Sidronio (Augustina) and 9 children that he was very proud of, Luis (Gloria), Maria, Rolando, Alicia (Jorge), Gina (Ric), Lorenzo, Jr. (Susan), Graciela (Francisco), Carlos, Yvonne (Dagoberto), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He symbolized strength, determination, generosity and a strong work ethic. He will be missed by many friends and loved ones whose lives he touched during his lifetime.

Many thanks to the staff at Hospice Austin and caregivers: Irma Maya, Yolanda Rodriguez and Adela Luna, for their patient attentiveness, great care and compassion while attending to our loved one.

Pallbearers will be Luis Gabriel Garcia, Daniel Montoya, Jr., Martin Montoya, Jorge Mora, Pablo Zaragoza, Andrew Garcia, John Garcia, and Dagoberto Garcia.

Honorary Pallbearers are Tony Garcia, Lorenzo Garcia, Jr.,  Rolando Garcia, and Beatriz Garcia

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First Street, with recitation of the Holy Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 13 at 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Ave.

Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH35 Frontage Road.
