Mr. Rendon was an East Austin Community leader and activist. He was the founder and former President of East Town Lake Citizen Neighborhood Association, as well as being a co-founder of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Rendon's years of dedication to his community are still seen today as the community of Austin enjoys a beautiful park located on the Northeast side of Town Lake. Mr. Rendon took the lead in working with local organizations and citizens in the 1970's and 80's to create the park that we all love and enjoy to this day. In 2007 the park was dedicated to him and renamed "Edward Rendon Sr. Park at Festival Beach" in his honor. His legacy will live on through his family's continued work in the community, the organizations he founded and co-founded that are still dedicated to the community he cherished, and the park dedicated in his honor. Mr. Rendon was a mighty force in Austin and will be greatly missed.
