Obituary of Esperanza Rangel Govea
Our beloved Esperanza Rangel Govea, age 81, resident of East Austin was called by our Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 28, 2018. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Lucio Govea, Sr.; her son, George Govea and daughters-in-law, Josie Govea and Sharon Govea; parents, Alfredo T. and Julia Rangel; her siblings, Angelica Esparza, Julia Elias, Amalita Zapata, Alfredo Rangel, Jr., and brother-in-law, Victor Carmona.
She is survived by her children, Lucio Govea, Jr., Geneva Govea (Daniel Herrera), Richard Govea, Jeanette Govea, Frankie Govea, Esther Govea, Dennis (Connie) Govea, Frances Govea (William Quintana), and Joanna Govea (Ken Ritter); grandchildren raised as her own, Paula Govea, Mary Esther Govea, Jessica Govea, Joseph Govea, and Devanie Govea; her siblings, Gilbert (Margaret) Rangel, Jesse Rangel, Consuela Carmona, Mary Luis Trevino, Gloria Rangel, Erlinda Torres, and Sunida Rangel; 28 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren on the way; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
Esperanza's family calls to positions of Honored Pallbearers Lucio Govea III, Richard Govea,Jr., Eric Govea, Dennis Govea II, George Govea, Jr., and Mark Anthony Diaz; Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Govea, Devin Quintana, and Alejandro Martinez III.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses and doctors of St. David's Hospital for their devoted and compassionate care and to her sister Consuelo Carmona and her brother Gilbert Rangel for their continuous presence.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Mission Funeral Home – East Side, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez St. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 2, 2018, St. Julia Catholic Church, Tillery and Lyons Street, Austin, Texas. A Memorial Mass will be held for George Govea, Sr. in conjunction with the Mass for Mrs. Esperanza Govea. Interment for Mrs. Govea and inurnment for Mr. George Govea will follow at Assumption Cemetery, Austin, Texas.
