I first met Mike working on campaigns for Gonzalo and Johnny in the days when the voices of the minority communities were 1st being heard by electing their own representatives. Mike was the hard working competent force behind those early victories and all his life he never quit working for his community and his friends. Recently we have lost too many giants upon which the success of the Hispanic community stands. With Mike another quiet but important giant is gone. Rest well Mike. With all you did you have earned it

My condolence to Mike's family....... Mike was a good friend... I met Mike in the summer of 1970... while working the streets of the Eastside on a Saturday Clean Up, a program sponsor by the City of Austin.. (Now the Bulk Clean Up that keeps Austin beautiful every six months.). Mike worked right along the volunteers from U T, A I S D School and the Community picking up bulk items to be taken to the dump yard. We Worked on Campaigns and attended rallies of candidates running for office..he was fun to be around.with. . I was happy to sit at the same table last summer as we enjoy the Music of Manuel Donley at Little Mexico and reminisce about old times.... He will certainly be missed...Rest in peace, my friend.

I met Mike when we were working in Gonzalo Barrientos' first campaign which started at the end of 1971 and ran through June, 1972. He was a great worker for every campaign that occurred from the East Side---Gonzalo's campaigns in "72, and 1974; John Trevino's campaigns in 1973, '75, and '77, and Richard Moya's campaigns every 4 years starting in 1970. He also helped me in my races in 1974, 1978 and 1980. No one worked harder or was more committed to the progress of all of these campaigns and to the progress of Mexican-Americans in Austin than Mike Guerrero.
Even after these campaigns he continued to be active in the community and always was interested in helping everyone he could. Our losing him is a great loss and the community is made the lesser for it.
Que en paz descanse.

I send my sincere condolences to the Guerrero family. Mike was a kind and gentle man. He was gracious, well informed on Austin politics and current events, and had a polite sense of humor. I am happy to have known him and to have been included in his immense circle of friends.
Hasta luego Miguel,
Alicia

Lisa, Miguelito, and family: Mike was a very kind, funny, intelligent and successful man. I am very glad and fortunate that not only i knew him, but spent several years being a close friend and shared a special relationship with him. While the last few years were not shared closely, the friendship remained when i thought fondly of him and occasionally contacted him. His love of his children and grandchildren was tremendous and will always be there while he is still watching over all of you with our Heavenly Father. God will help all his loved ones with Mike's passing on. I wish everyone of you Peace, Healing and my Prayers are with you for your loved one's loss. God is with you through your pain.
