Obituary of Samuel D. Pagán
Our Beloved Samuel D. Pagán, age 87, of Austin, Texas, was called by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday December 19, 2017.
Mr. Pagán proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a decorated soldier having received the POW Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a member of the DAV, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. After his service in the military, he studied law and served as a counselor for the Puerto Rican Municipal Government. After retiring, he moved to Austin and served as the Adjutant for the Travis County Chapter of the DAV.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rafael D. Pagán and Ana Ayala and his siblings Col. Rafael Pagán, Ana Lydia Pagán, and Hector Pagán.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years Luisa I. Pagán; his loving children Anabel Pagán, Rev. Samuel D. Pagán Jr. (Mayra), Luisa I. Pagán (Jose F. Santiago), and Pedro A. Pagán; his brother Dr. Benjamin Pagán; grandchildren: Lilian Isabel (Cederic Pimentel) Aguilar, Samuel D. Pagán II; Juan Pablo Pagán, Rafael David Pagán, Sarah Elizabeth (Ernesto Rivera) Pagán, Jose F. (Rebecca) Santiago Jr., Jorge L. Santiago, Ana Isabel (Hector Ortiz) Santiago, Pedro David Pagán, Josue Angel Pagán, and Ana Cristina Pagán; great grandchildren: Isabelle Pagán, Samuel D. Pagán III, Isaiah Pagán, Jeramiah Pagán, Ernesto Samuel Rivera, Daylarose Santiago, Avagrace Santiago, Marcos Jose Santiago, Lia Isabella Santiago, Amelia Rose Santiago, and Luz Selenia Pagán; and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 26, 2017 at Mission Funeral Home – South Side. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 27, 2017 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
