Obituary of Baldemar A. Rivas, Sr.

Our Beloved Baldemar A. Rivas Sr., age 77, of Kingsville, Texas, was called by our Heavenly Father on Friday, December 01, 2017 in Austin, Texas

Baldemar visited Austin frequently as a teen to attend track & field events and to compete in Texas Relays. His family eventually moved to Austin in 1966.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years Olga H. Rivas, whom he lovingly took care of for 24 years; parents Jacinto Rivas and Juana Aguilar Rivas; siblings Alberto Rivas, “Chita” Longoria, and Aida Garza.

He is survived by his son and daughter in law Baldemar “Sonny” Rivas Jr. and Delia Rivas; son Carlos Rivas; grandchildren Rosalinda Smoltich, David Gonzalez, Joseph Rivas, Sarah Rivas, Ciera A. Perez, Jamie Sabrina Rivas and Nicholas Rivas; great grandchildren Addilyn Gonzalez, Alberto Perez III, and Nereo Perez; and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m., on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Mission Funeral Home – South Side. A Scripture Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Mission Funeral Home –South Side. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Services entrusted to Mission Funeral Home-South Side, 6204 South First Street; Austin, Texas 78745.
