Obituary of Minerva Chapa Lopez

Please share a memory of Minerva to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our Beloved Minerva Chapa Lopez, age 82, of Austin, Texas was called home to God’s kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, September 23, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband Anacleto Lopez Ramos; her parents Mariana Portillo Chapa and Gonzalo Chapa Guajardo; and her son-in-law Alfred Rodriguez. Minerva is survived by her loving children: Sergio Chapa Lopez, Ana Maria Rodriguez, Leticia Lopez, Rebecca Lopez Aviles (Angel), Anacleto Lopez J.R.; grandchildren: Jennifer Marie Perez (Patrick), Gabriela Alejandra Aviles, Maximo Alexander Aviles, and Gisela Isabel Aviles and numerous brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Minerva Chapa Lopez was a migrant worker who worked hard alongside her husband to provide a promising future for her children, and later generations. She lived in Eagle Pass, Texas and relocated to Austin, Texas following the death of her husband. Through her children’s journey into adulthood she taught them the importance of faith, hard work and unconditional love. She loved her children and grandchildren more than anything in the world. She spent every single Sunday with her family to play Loteria (spanish bingo), teach life lessons, but also shared the stories of her life amongst her loving family. Although her passing brings sadness upon family and friends. We are grateful to have had such an amazing sister, mother, grandmother, but also a friend. She has had such a great impact on everyone throughout her lifetime, and helped influence people for the better.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted”. -Matthew 5:4
